FIRST EARLIES

Harvest Time: 10-12 weeks after planting (usually from June onwards)

Best For: New potatoes – small, waxy, and perfect for boiling or salads

Planting Time: Typically from February to early April

Popular Varieties: Home Guard, Duke of York, Sharpe's Express.

Why Choose First Earlies? Great for gardeners with limited space as they’re harvested earlier, freeing up room for other crops. Plus, they’re less susceptible to blight due to their short growing season.

SECOND EARLIES

Harvest Time: 13-15 weeks after planting (usually ready from July)

Best For: Slightly larger than first earlies, ideal for boiling, salads, or light roasting

Planting Time: March to early April

Popular Varieties: Charlotte, Vitabella, British Queen

Why Choose Second Earlies? These offer a longer harvest window and produce versatile potatoes that can be used in various dishes.

MAIN CROP

Harvest Time: 16-22 weeks after planting (ready from late August to October)

Best For: Larger potatoes, great for baking, mashing, roasting, or storing

Planting Time: Late March to early May

Popular Varieties: Records, Kerr’s Pink, Golden Wonder, Maris Piper

Why Choose Main Crop? They produce high yields and store well, making them ideal for long-term use throughout the winter.
